BERLIN – The month of July has proved to be the most profitable month in two years of casino gambling history. This fact has been based on the profits earned by casino at Ocean Downs by the side of Route 589 subsequent to south of Ocean Pines. The gross income earned by Ocean Downs casino during July is $5.75 million. The records show that this is 8% or $400,000 rise as compared to July 2011, which was also the maximum earning month till that date.
These numbers have been revealed on Tuesday by Video Lottery Commission officials at a time when legislators were going to organize a special meeting to discuss about the prospects of gambling at Ocean Downs casino. The gambling at Berlin has shown a constant rise in the collection of revenues on monthly as well as on yearly basis. For instance, the revenue collection in June 2012 is 16% up as compared to the corresponding month of 2011.
An identical growing trend can be noticed in the gross gaming per machine per day collection at Ocean Downs casino. $215/machine/day was produced in July 2011, while $183/machine/day was produced in June 2012 and it rose to $232/machine/day in July 2012. The number of machines has increased from 750 to 800 with the addition of 50 machines during summer of 2011 at Ocean Downs casino.
The eyes are focused on the month of August to record further rise in revenues as chances for betterment still linger on. Due to devastation caused by Hurricane Irene during last year, all the business houses including Ocean Downs casino in the mid-Atlantic region had to be kept closed for two or three days in the last week of August. Maryland is expected to make a lot of profits in this August if such incident doesn’t occur again.
In the meantime, the gross revenue collection for the Maryland Live casino located in Anne Arundel County is $35.4 million for the month of July. These figures surpass the total revenue collection for the year till date for Ocean Downs casino. The gross income produced per machine per day by 3,700 VTL’s at Maryland Live casino is $351. However, the Hollywood Casino in Cecil region is considering dropping the number of VLT’s at its location. This is due to a 32% fall shown by gross revenue collection in July 2012 as compared to July 2011. It collected $6.9 million gross revenue in July 2012 which is more than $3.3 million reduction in contrast to July 2011.
