Ho-Chunk Inc. to bid for Sioux City Iowa casino

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - November 1 has been fixed as the last date for submission of applications for issuance of license for the Woodbury County and many companies would be placing their bids for the same. Among them is Ho-Chunk Inc., the Nebraska company that intends to go ahead with establishing a hotel and casino in downtown Sioux City. The Chief Executive Officer of Ho-Chunk, Lance Morgan has confirmed the company’s interest to obtain the gambling license in the city. Ho-Chunk, the economic development concern is affiliated with Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska. Search for a new partner for running a casino in Sioux City is on by Missouri River Historical Development as it is not comfortable with Penn National Gaming, the owner of Argosy Sioux City river boat casino. Qualified nonprofit organizations are permitted to pair with the casino developers as per the Iowa laws. Mark Monson, the president of nonprofit did not say anything about Ho-Chunk’s proposal to bid for the casino while the CEO of the company, Morgan defended their stand with the plea that being located very near, i.e. Winnebago, Neb., they would prove to be the best partner whereas other firms are too far. He added that it is up to the local community to choose Ho-Chunk as their best partner and not opt for others, at a distance of 1,400 miles. However, he did not divulge complete details of the company’s plans as the same are still in the pipeline. Ho-Chunk is not associated with the WinnaVegas Casino in Sloan in western Iowa that is operated by the Winnebago Tribe which utilized the casino’s revenues for creation of Ho-Chunk in 1994 which has employed over one thousand persons and developed its twenty six subsidiaries too. An amount of over $200 million is generated as revenues through its construction, information technology, distribution and other activities.
