On Wednesday, 25th July, Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero and the chief of Sault Ste. Marie Tribe declared that the construction of Lansing Casino in the Capital city is being extended due to shifting of land transfer date from Aug. 1 to Nov. 1. Lansing Mayor regrets over their being somewhat loud-mouthed. In his statement on Wednesday, he reassured his will to complete the project. He added that they will complete it by the closing date and all the remaining affairs will be sorted out till then.
The new casino is facing strict antagonism on the hands of general legal representative and the governor by referring to a district court resolution for closing of an identical casino Bay Mills. But according to the Sault Tribe, their case is different. The Chairperson for the Sault St. Marie Tribe- Aaron Payment clarified the difference that needs the Secretary of the Interior of Bay Mills to get the land into trust to distinctly classify it as Indian. But Lansing casino is ahead of Bay Mills’ endeavor in case of legitimacy of the land. Insistent efforts are being made by tribe to get the casino work completed. They want to provide first-rate facilities and also get the profits from the operations of casino and working of slots machines. Mayor Bernero is dead sure about completion of project by the closing date. But on the top of all issues, they reconfirmed their association with the tribe in relation to casino that is going to produce 700 construction jobs plus 1,500 stable jobs in the city.
