BATON ROUGE, La. — Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. has been given a period of one month more by the Louisianas gambling regulators on Thursday for completion of construction on the new Baton Rouge casino and hotel project that would cost $368 million. The CEO & president of Pinnacle, Anthony Sanfilippo said that the extension would not affect the opening by Labor Day weekend in September. He informed the Gaming Control Board that thy have made a considerable progress. The extension of one month from July 31 to Aug 31 has since been unanimously granted by the board as per the agreement with Pinnacle. In fact, the construction had to be delayed many times since May, 2010. Mississippi Rivers low water level and the high water threat were the reasons for postponement of the project.
Sanfilippo, the CEO apprised that staff has since been trained for successful operation of the facility with installation of maximum number of slot machines & table games. He added that Pinnacle, also known as PNK is all set to expedite the opening date that may be announced somewhere in August for the gamblers access. The general manager of the Baton Rouge Casino said that services of approx 1,100 persons have since been hired for the facility.
