BATTLE CREEK – Fire Keepers Casino, situated in Calhoun County’s Emmit Township, off exit I-94 at exit 104 near Battle Creek started its activities on Aug. 5, 2009. The casino already possesses 2,800 slot machines, poker room, bingo room and 70 tables. The facility has cost $300 million and now plans to add morea slot machines with a non-smoking area for the gamblers. Director of marketing events, Jeff LaFrance informed that the multimillion-dollar expansion program will include 242-room, 292,000 sq ft hotel for which the opening date would be announced later. Nameplate of the casino is being changed with addition of the word – hotel.
In addition to the hotel, the gambling section for the non-smokers, multi-purpose center and a mega restaurant for the patrons is also in the pipeline. The 2000-seater events center for major events and concerts would come up on the north side of the casino floor. Approx forty two suites including two presidential suites would be put up on the apex two floors of the eight-storey lodge and standard rooms will be available on the remaining part of the hotel.
A business center, exercise facility, an interior puddle and a complete-service eatery would be set up at the inn. The new restaurant for the hotel guests would provide resting place, known as Smoke & Fire that resembles with casino’s Café 24x7 with a variety of American much loved foods.
Job Fair – The expansion program brings about 300 jobs and a job fair would be held on Monday, the 16th July from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the casino’s bingo room.
