OTTAWA — Casino du Lac Leamy would undergo renovations at a cost of $47.3-million and the casino would present a fresh look for the public. With a competitive edge, the casino would hit the market, said the officials of the casino. The renovations would start this fall and may continue till January, 2015. It would be a four-stage program, without any interruption for the clients.
Major changes to the casino include, renovatin of the entrance, main floor gaming area, removal of interior fountains & plants. The panoramic staircase and the bar 77 in the middle of the casino will be put down. A central hub would be put up on the second level. The main floor high roller lounge area would also undergo major renovations.
A multimedia ribbon to the interior casino walls will also be made available. It is a huge metal grill, with different images projecting on it that include winner of a slot machine jackpot, other videos and promotional announcements. That would create a good impression.
The casino earned approx $260 million as revenues in 2010-11 which are expected to rise by 3% after the renovations program is completed.
Head of Ottawa Tourism, Noel Buckley appreciated the renovations at the Casino du Lac Leamy. He added that it is a great news for all casino lovers in the region. Moreover, it is significant in terms of tourism. He said that more discussions must be held for future plans of a downtown Ottawa casino. Though the council has not come as yet in favour of a downtown casino, yet he thought that the OLG had issued a request-for-information. He said that an existing casino in Ottawa generates revenue to the tune of $150 million during a year.
