ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) – A protest has been filed by workers of the major Atlantic City casino union with the National Labor Relations Board against deferment of services of twenty-one employees who participated in the recent remonstration at Tropicana Casino and Resort. The union claimed that the decision of the property was against the law.
As such, it sought withdrawal of the deferment orders and asked for immediate resumption of duties by the concerned workers. The concerned employees were a lot of the 49 members of the union who were arrested on Friday for blocking the road and creating hurdles for the traffic. The union struggles for implementation of a new contract and the untoward decision of the casino for stopping the employees’ pension plan against cash payment. Tropicana president expressed that the casino was hopeful for the charges but he did not believe that the act of the casino was improper in any manner.
