With a view to promote foreign tourism and financial growth in the area, Primorsky has plans to benefit from its adjoining economies through development of gambling zone that is situated at a distance of approx 20 km from new Vladivostok International Airport, i.e. just a two-hour flight from Seoul, South Korea, and Tokyo Japan.
The state-owned OSJC Nash Dom Primorye, during the G2E Asia last week, announced to float a proposal for its integrated entertainment zone for which a website has also been promoted. The private operators and investors could give their proposals for the resorts. A period of 60 days has been given for submission of proposals from the day of official publication of the RFC.
The general director of Nash Dom Primorye, Marina Lomakina stated that the Russian Federation would take strong initiatives for the economic progress of the Far East Region. He added that now our focus is on the tourism sector that needs to be developed to the highest level. He was of the view that the private operators would definitely take interest in tourism and casino gambling activities of the IEZ.
As stated by Russia’s Audit Chamber in its last year’s report, plans of creating country’s new casino gambling zones incurred wastage of public funds. The expenses for development of the sites have exceeded the revenues earned through them. Lack of support from the authorities and remote locations of the gambling sites are responsible for all this. Moreover, only one zone, i.e. Azov City near the Black sea now has two operational casinos.
