CORNWALL– The councilors have expressed their anger for the city being excluded from the districts and having been left out of the map of Eastern Ontario gaming areas. Still they are not discouraged and hoped that the casino would become a reality for the city. Mr. Mark Boileau has been requested to pursue the matter vigorously and appeal the Ontario Lottery & Gaming Commission for reviewing the issue and treat Cornwall as a gaming zone. Boileau added that Cornwall might not develop without being declared as a gaming zone.
Couon. Denis Carr, while asking his associates for support for a strong protest to the province said that the site plan created by someone ends at Ingleside. Mr. Glen Grant, the acting mayor expressed that if we just say yes, nobody would take us seriously and as such, we have to emphasize on our point. He opined that people would do gamble and the activity should be retained in Cornwall. Mr. Boileau said that the process could go ahead when the existing suspension on the new properties is lifted and the private sector will have to move forward. Mr. Coun. Bernadette Clement said that things are not much favorable for us. We have to go a long way for the entire process, he added. Coun. Elaine MacDonald was in favor of a poll rather than spending time to explore the possibility.
