Toronto – While two anti-casino issues would be the main topics during Ford’s executive committee on Monday, he kept silent over the matter. The discussions would revolve around city’s 1997 referendum result of rejection of a casino and establishment of a casino at Ontario Place. Mr. Ford preferred to keep reserve and when asked to comment, he said that being always in favor of the casinos, he considered their performances on top priority in terms of well-paying jobs.
Paul Godfrey, the OLG Chairman was in favor of establishing a casino at the Toronto waterfront and when asked to comment, Mr. Ford replied to wait and see. Things would depend on the discussions, he added.
The executive committee members have their own individual opinions. Mr. Denzil Minnan was in favor of an Ontario Place Casino instead of a Toronto Casino. Councilor, Mike Layton, expressing his views against a casino at Ontario Place appealed to the executive committee to save the place from any casino. Such casino would just be harmful to the local business, said Mr. Layton.
